Front Yard - Before & After

One cool aspect of my job is getting to follow up on the gardens I have installed in years past. This garden was in a sad state when it came to me in 2007. Here are a few before photos of the front of the house, they had a big brick wall blocking them from the street, and a large wooden fence blocking them from their neighbors on both sides.

The owners wanted a bright, colorful, lush space that reflected their sense of fun. Texture was important but color throughout the seasons was of utmost importance.

I had another job in their neighborhood and stopped by to check on things, and here it is now!

We replaced the fences with wrought iron so they got more light and their neighbors could enjoy the new view. Some of the plants of note in this design were:
Knockout roses
Creeping jenny (bright green groundcover)
Crape Myrtle (tree in left bed in photo)
Daylilies (bright yellow on the right in the second photo)
Sage 'May Night' (purple on right in front of daylilies)
Holly 'Skypencil' (on the Left side of the door)
Nandina (behind the daylilies)

They are really happy with the way things have filled in and so am I!

So we're back from our tropical vacation, I'll post some photos later this week when I've sorted through them. We had a great time, but I do have to say I missed you bloggers!!

I've caught up on a lot of my regulars, but I'm sure there's something I've missed, let me know!

Happy Tuesday!
